“The Man in My Heart” is a fanbook project, which means it is not official. We want to share our love for Onmyoji characters Asura and Taishakuten and the relationships between them.
This book is supposed to be art-centric, which means that unfortunately we will not be accepting writers’ applications for now, sorry!
The fanbook project is named after the official music theme of Asura and Taishakuten.
F.A.Q.
What is a zine/fanbook?
A zine/fanbook is an independently organized and published collection of fanmade works, such as artworks and writings, often published as a book.
What is this book’s theme?
Our theme is Onmyoji characters Asura and Taishakuten, their story and relationship.
Is this fanbook for-profit or non-profit?
This fanbook will be for profit. Each contributor will receive a certain percentage of the profit earned from fanbook sales if the sales will be successful.
Will this fanbook be nsfw or sfw?
This project is to be sfw, PG-13. Creators are free to ask about content if they are unsure. If there will be such an interest, we will consider creating nsfw digital and/or physical AsuTai nsfw zine.
Will this fanbook be devoted strictly to Asura/Taishakuten relationship, or is reverse possible?
Due to the fact that different people have different attitudes towards reverse, for your convenience we focus on Asura/Taishakuten order, or ask you not to imply order at all in your painting.
Is the fanbook physical or digital?
The book is guaranteed to be digital in PDF format, although we are aiming at printing physical copies on rthe condition of successful preorder company.
We expect the printed version of book to be of A4 format, hardcover, with high quality paper. Although, possible changes might apply depending on the success of the project and people’s interest.
Will there be international shipping?
Yes, international shipping will be available! Some restrictions may apply based on country.
Will contributors get a copy?
Contributors are guaranteed a digital copy of the book. We hope to provide every contributor a full bundle including all merch and the physical book, with free shipping.
Do I have to have Asura/Taishakuten art examples to apply?
You can apply if you don’t have any art related to the topic! But of course, the presence of AsuTai themed works would be amazing. If you have art related to out fanbook theme, please include it in your application!
Do my ships/content published on my page affect my chance of getting accepted?
No. Change of getting accepted might be affected only by the quality of their art, if we would have to select. It will not be affected by the content posted on their personal accounts, whether it is sfw or nsfw, as fanbook is supposed to be sfw only.
Do I need zine experience to apply?
Experience is not required. We will be happy to help our contributors through every step and solve any questions if occur.
What are the requirements for contributing artists?
Illustrations will be full color, CMYK color mode at 300dpi, with templates provided. We will be glad to help with technical difficulties, please don’t worry!
All works should be new (previously unpublished), created specifically for this book.
Comics are possible.
Both traditional and digital art is accepted.
Artworks should be finished, not sketchy/unfinished (but if you generally draw in a sketchy art style, it is fine as long as the final image is high-quality).
Merch will be dependent on the type of merch with templates also provided.
How many artists will be accepted?
We are looking currently to accept around 40-45 artists, but numbers may change based on the interest.
How old do I need to be to apply?
Applicants must be at least 16 to apply. Minors require explicit parental permission to apply and must have permission to use PayPal to receive contributor cuts.
Are characters other than Asura and Taishakuten allowed?
Yes, but as the main theme of book is AsuTai relationship, it should still be the focus, both characters should be present in the picture, and will be an object to moderate.
How many pages I can draw?
2 pages (1 broadside) per artist.
Can I draw characters in my fan skin?
Yes, you can! Fan designs are welcomed, but we kindly ask you to consult with mods on the skin idea, we would like the general stylistics of the book to fit the Onmyoji RPG game stylistics.
Are AUs possible?
Same as with fan skins - they are welcome, but they will be moderated!
What language will the book be in?
Main content is supposed to be in English, but some information might be translated into other languages depending on the interest.

Mods
Heira is a manga and comic artist and illustrator working in art industry. She is one of the head mods and, most notably, will be responsible for managing Twitter account and book formatting. She will also help guiding the contributors, so any questions can also be asked to her (ENG/JP)
Wispzoa has a notable zine work experience, and is an artist and illustrator who works in art industry. Being one of head mods, she will manage different aspects of fanbook creation process, organise the work and design the social media.
Renge is a professional book illustrator with the corresponding education, who has experience in creating illustrations, artistic design, layout and printing of various kinds of literature from children's books and classics to entertainment magazines. They are one of mods responsible of manufacturing and shipping physical copies of fanbook.
SekhetAaru has a respectable experience in organising different fan projects. Reliable and observant, she is one of the mods in charge of manufacturing and shipping physical copies of book. Being an artist herself, she will ensure the quality of printing.
Abyss has an experience in handling different fan projects and arranging communication within projects. He will be helping us communicating with contributors, including Discord communication, and solving different questions related to projects.
